Throughout the 2015 Foundation transition process your child will be in a colour coded group. These are not indicative of 2015 class groups.
Your child is required to attend the following dates for their transition. Each session will meet at the front of the Discovery Centre
BLUE & GREEN GROUPS – Thursday 23rd October, Thursday 6th November, Thursday 20th November & Tuesday 9th December
YELLOW & PURPLE GROUPS – Thursday 30th October, Thursday 13th November, Thursday 20th November & Tuesday 9th December
2015 Foundation Transition (for students)
Discovery Centre Visit: During this session your child will explore the Discovery Centre with our current Foundation students. Teachers will guide them through various activities during one of our Discovery Learning sessions.
School tour and activity: 2015 Foundation students will be taken on a tour around Canterbury Primary School to become familiar with their new classrooms and playgrounds.
They will also do an exciting activity with a current Foundation teacher in our LRC (Learning Resource Centre).
Classroom Visit 1 and 2: During our classroom visits the 2015 Foundation students will take part in a range of activities run by our current Foundation teachers.
Foundation Orientation Day: 2015 Foundation students will meet their new teacher and classmates. They will take part in activities that will familiarise them with a school day in the Discovery Centre.
Please ensure your child wears the name tag provided to each of the sessions. Below are the parent sessions which will be held during
2015 Foundation Transition – Parent Sessions – Please meet outside on the steps of the front office, these parent sessions are not compulsory.
Thursday 23rd October – Q & A with our Leadership team: Take the opportunity to meet Principal Mr David Wells and Assistant Principal Mrs Justine Mackey and ask any questions about our school.
Thursday 6th November – What will your child do at school? Your child will participate in English, Numeracy, Science and Specialist classes amongst many other activities. A current Foundation teacher will share some of these programs including Take Home Reading and Maths Bags.
Thursday 20th November – PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) training: At Canterbury Primary School we run a PMP program in Foundation and Year 1. If you would like to help out throughout the year you are required to complete the training that outlines the purpose and parent requirements.
Thursday 27th November – Current Parent Meet & Greet: We have invited some of our current Foundation parents for a cup of tea and to meet & greet with any new Foundation parents. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and ask any questions!
Uniform Shop: The uniform shop will be open during all transition sessions for Foundation parents to purchase uniforms.
Thursday 4th of December we will be hosting a parent information evening here at the school at 6.30pm – more information and an invite will be forthcoming
